Spring cleaning

It’s that time again. Time to take down the drapes, wipe down the walls, dust the ceiling fans, open the windows and feel the fresh air. The frogs are at full volume by the pond, the deer and the baby fawns are walking the driveway, and the cats are lovin’ the sunshine.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Woke up to snow on Christmas morning! How wonderful it would be to have a fire in the fireplace, coffee in the pot, and breakfast delivered to the door.  That is just what our guests at Cripple Creek Bed and Breakfast Cabins are enjoying this morning. If you can get out of your driveway, you can get into ours. Leave your shovels at home and come enjoy a cozy night or two with us. Paul has worked hard to ensure the way is clear for your arrival. The scenery of snow untouched by humans is unbelievable. We would love to share it with you.

Until next time.

Sleeping in…

I did something this morning that I have not done in a very long time. I got up because I had to use the bathroom, heard it gently raining, and went back to bed. That’s right.  I went back to bed… I went back to bed not to just lay there for a few minutes and feel guilty because I did it, but I went back to bed to go back to sleep. And I did do it. I went back to sleep, deeply. I woke up at 9:30. Yesssss, 9:30! I awakened peaceful and relaxed. Such a great way to wake up. I have felt pampered all day because of it.  Here at Cripple Creek Bed and Breakfast Cabins, it is OK to sleep in and pamper yourself, to wake up refreshed and rested, peaceful and relaxed. It’s one of the reasons you stay here. Life does not give us many opportunities to pamper ourselves but it is important that we do it. The much-needed rain has stopped for now but there is more in the forecast for today. I think I feel a nap coming on.

Until next time,

Donna

On the porch this morning

I awoke early this morning. What was that sound? It took me a minute but I realized it was the sound of gentle rain. I couldn’t wait to get onto the porch. I can’t describe the feeling of contentment I felt sitting in the rocker, snuggled into my bathrobe, drinking a hot cup of coffee, and listening to the rain drip on the trees. Total relaxation. Can you feel the robe? Can you smell the coffee? Can you hear it?

Until next time.

Stars so close and bright in the velvet night

As I returned home the other night at 4 am after the death of one of my Hospice patients I took a moment and looked up into the night sky. I enjoy looking at its velvety texture and the stars that feel so close. I instantly felt very tiny and decided to lay in the grass so I could stare straight up and just feel enveloped by the dark. I so love living here where there is no unnatural light to hide the vastness of the night sky. I lay there for a few minutes feeling the gentle breeze on my face as I felt a sense of personal peace enter my soul and prepare me for some much needed sleep. Cripple Creek Bed and Breakfast Cabins invite you to experience the wonder of the stars and find the peaceful places of your heart as well.

Until next time,

Fall in Southwest Virginia

Today is the 20th of August already. Time really does move quickly. Paul and I hope your summer goals were reached. Now comes the plans and expectations for fall and winter, whether it involves children and school, or garden/yard projects. It  is also time to plan to get to the mountains of Southwest Virginia. Come to witness Mother Nature’s brilliance as the days get shorter and cooler. Not only will you experience beautiful fall colors on your drive to our area, but our cabins are surrounded by trees which will no doubt delight you as the leaves change.  It is such a wonder to sit in a rocker on the porches here and actually hear the leaves as they fall around me. Come enjoy a moment like this with us at Cripple Creek Bed and Breakfast Cabins. There are no Honey Do lists here. Those leaves can stay on the ground.

Until next time.

Night time temperatures in the 60’s!

What a wonderfully cool morning it is here at Cripple Creek Bed and Breakfast Cabins. Our temperature gauge shows 64 degrees. Ahhhh, feel the cool! After being snuggled and wrapped in the cabin’s king sized bed over night, you might need a small blanket around your shoulders while you sit on the rockers on the porch this morning! What a nice change of pace, as well as a nice change of temperature from the country’s scorching heat.

Until next time.

It’s getting cooler in Southwest Virginia!

That’s right, it’s getting cooler.  We are in the mid to upper 80’s with breezes! Still sounds too hot? Well, the breezes aren’t just hot air. They actually cool the air. And with the humidity being lower due to being in the mountains, it feels  a lot cooler. Come sit in one of the rockers on the shaded porch of a cabin and feel the breeze. Cripple Creek Bed and Breakfast Cabins is just the place to cool off and relax!

Until next time.

Date Night at Cripple Creek Bed and Breakfast Cabins

What is a Date Night? Remember those? The time before the long work hours, before the family pets, before the children, before taking care of aging parents. Remember that time? Things were much simpler and slower paced. You laughed and had fun together. Just the two of you. You held hands. You looked into each others eyes. You made plans and talked about dreams. You connected as a couple.

Cripple Creek Bed and Breakfast Cabins specializes in Date Night getaways. It is never too late, and one should always make time to connect/re-connect with your special someone. While here you can hold hands, look into each others eyes, remember special moments, laugh, and talk about plans and dreams to come.

We do all the work for you. A relaxing whirlpool tub, a luxurious king sized bed, cozy rockers on a shaded porch, breakfast delivered to your door when you call for it. No dishes to wash, beds to make, bathrooms to clean, laundry to do, grass to mow, groceries to buy, cars to repair, family to care for. Leave your list of To Do’s at home for an evening. Look into your partners eyes and remember why…………

Until next time
